
DesCombes Agri-Business, Inc. is seeking a mechanic/laborer to join our team. The successful candidate will work in our shop and may also provide infield service. This role plays a vital part in delivering professional customer service and supporting the sales and maintenance of Vermeer Agricultural Equipment, including Forage Production and Feeding Solutions machines.
Professionalism: Always exhibit courteous and professional customer service.
Driver’s License: Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Vermeer Agriculture Equipment. Responsibilities also include loading, unloading, assembly, setup, and adjustments as needed.
Customer Assistance: Provide support to customers regarding service needs, such as twine/net wrap, parts, and information to ensure optimal equipment operation.
Learning and Development: Participate in Vermeer Service training programs and employ computer resources to advance job-related knowledge and skills.
Communication: Effectively listen and communicate, both verbally and in writing, with customers and coworkers.
Safety and Proficiency: Adhere to safety protocols and operate proficiently. Follow instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately.
Resource Utilization: Utilize phones, computers, books, shop tools, equipment, and vehicles as required for the job.
Documentation: Accurately account for time and materials used, recording information on paper or electronically as appropriate.
Facility Maintenance: Maintain business premises, yard, tools, vehicles, and equipment, as necessary.
Work Environment: Accept exposure to various weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and dusty environments, as well as loud noise levels and dirty surroundings (hay, pollen, dust, dirt, fumes, oil, and grease).
Physical Requirements: Use neck, back, legs, arms, hands, and fingers to perform tasks such as observing, lifting, working, managing, and feeling as needed to do the job. Must be able to continuously lift up to 25 lbs., frequently lift up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 80 lbs. Duties may include walking, climbing, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing in confined or awkward spaces.
Workplace Standards: Maintain a workplace free from tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and firearms.
Experience: Preferably have at least one year of mechanical experience. Knowledge of forage and cattle is a plus; however, on-site training and mentorship will be provided for suitable candidates.
Position Type: Preference will be given to candidates seeking full-time employment and to those willing to work extended hours during hay season. Part-time applicants may also be considered.
Compensation is based on skill level. Additional benefits include potential overtime opportunities, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and the possibility of bonuses.
